Electrical Panel Upgrade in Lakeside
The converted cottages along the south shore of Crescent Lake almost all share one problem: a panel sized for a summer place now running a year-round household. We see 60-amp fused boxes feeding showers, laundry, and a kitchen full of modern loads, and the fuses get bridged with pennies or oversized so they stop blowing. Summit Electric has upgraded panels across Lakeside since 1985, a quick run up Route 9 from our Springfield shop.
What We Replace and Why
In the conventional blocks between the lake and Route 9, the recurring find is a panel brand later recalled as unsafe, where breakers fail to trip on a fault. Both situations get the same answer: a 200-amp service with a fresh ground, proper neutral and ground separation, and labeled circuits. We run a load calculation first so the new panel fits what your house actually draws. We pull the permit and the work gets inspected.
Adding a whole-home surge protector at the new panel is the smart pairing, and an electrical inspection tells you what else the cottage hides. See the main panel upgrade page, or the Lakeside hub.
