Whole-Home Surge Protection in Maplewood
A power strip with a surge light protects the one thing plugged into it. It does nothing for the appliances, LED fixtures, and the dozen circuit boards now living in a modern Maplewood home. A whole-home surge protector mounts at the panel and clamps a spike before it spreads to every circuit in the house.
We install these across Union County, a 25-minute run from our Springfield shop, and the work is quick.
Where the Spikes Come From
Most surges aren’t the dramatic lightning strike. They’re the smaller, repeated spikes that ride in from the grid every time the utility switches loads, plus the ones your own house generates when a large motor cycles off. Each one chips away at sensitive electronics until something fails early. A panel-mounted device shunts those surges to ground at the source, and it protects everything downstream, including the hard-wired things a strip never could.
It’s a natural add-on to a panel upgrade and worth pairing with an EV charger install to guard the charging electronics. We make sure the panel is properly grounded first, because surge protection only works against a solid ground. More on our surge protection page, everything local on the Maplewood hub.
